A Head Above the Rest

Hand carved wooden carousel horse head

Hand-carved wooden carousel horses are a thing of the past, which is just one of the reasons that the carousel in Spokane’s Riverfront Park is such a gem.  You can choose your favorite ride and try to catch the brass ring.

Las Vegas Strip at Night

It may be cheesy, tacky, and an overdone neon nightmare, but there’s no denying that the Las Vegas Strip at night is impressive.

It’s been awhile since I experienced night time Las Vegas, but last fall’s trip for Blog World Expo gave me another link at this city that NEVER sleeps.

Museum of Glass, Tacoma Washington

With its striking conical structure, the Museum of Glass is becoming an iconic part of the Tacoma (Washington) skyline.

Bodies & Muscles

Skeletons from BODIES exhibit

These skeletons were from the BODIES exhibit when it was in Seattle.  There are numerous touring exhibits and a permanent one is Las Vegas.   I was very interested in seeing the exhibit, although I was a little concerned about how I’d react to real live (or real dead) human bodies.  I’m so glad that I went, and I found it quite educational.  Our bodies are truly remarkable vessels.

The Etruscan Museum is located in Chiusy, Italy.  It’s full of Etruscan art, especially funeral urns.  Admission is a couple Euro, and you can easily see the museum in about an hour.  While you’re there, why not pick out the funeral urn that you think suits your style?

Miami Water Wow

Miami Pow Wow 2009

One of the major travel events that I attend each year, is the USTA’s International Pow-Wow.

This event provides me with the information, connections, and what I need for nearly a year of travel planning and writing.  It’s a big event and yield big return on my investment of time and money.

This photo was taken at the 2009 event, held in Miami, Florida.

Eye to Eye with a Flamingo

Flamingo close up Miami

I’ve always been a fan of flamingos, in all their varied shades of orangey-pink (their color is a result of their diet).

Eiffel Tower Las Vegas-Style

Eiffel Tower at Paris Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

Closer to home than the original, the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas is like much of the rest of the city’s attractions – over the top, a bit on the tacky side, but still luring visitors.

Sunset on Kona

Kona Sunset

The beaches may be more volcanic rock than white sand, but the sunsets still charms visitors to the Big Island of Hawaii.
