Blue Skies, Seattle Winter

space needle, blue sky, Seattle winter

Seattle may be known for its rainy winter weather, but we still have days of crystal blue skies and sun.  Granted, it’s cold enough to still be all bundled up, but it’s also enough to remind us that spring, and warmer weather, is just around the corner.

Taylor Shellfish Farms, Bellingham

Lunch at Taylor Shellfish Farm, Bellingham Washington

Taylor Shellfish Farms is a family owned oyster business located in Bellingham, Washington.

The Taylor family has been in the shellfish business for over 100 years, offering a number of oyster types:  Pacific, Kumamoto, Olympia, Totten Inlet Virginica, and European Flat.  They also offer clams (Manila, Littleneck, Savory and Geoduck), Mussels (Mediterranean, Blue), and Dungeness Crab.

It’s a great spot to pick up some delicious shellfish to take home, or bring some picnic fixings and barbecue right on the spot.

Sunset on Kona

Kona Sunset

The beaches may be more volcanic rock than white sand, but the sunsets still charms visitors to the Big Island of Hawaii.

Lake Mead Rock Formations

Colorful rock formations around Lake Mead

The rock formations around Lake Mead are full of color and texture.  Mother Nature, and years of geologic erosion, has created a masterpiece.

Gardens of Rodin

Gardens at Rodin Museum in Paris

These ornamental hedges invite visitors into the garden at the Rodin Museum in Paris.  With its combination of sculpture and drawings inside, and the statuary in the beautiful gardens, the Rodin is probably my favorites of the museums in Paris.

A Pool to Infinity

Infinity pool at Cancun Hilton Resort & Spa

One of my favorite hotel pool areas, the infinity pool at the Cancun Hilton Resort & Spa, looks all the way out to the Atlantic Ocean.

Commune of Maccagno on Lake Maggiore

The shores of Lake Maggiore are dotted with small communes and town.  The lake is partially in Italy and partially in Switzerland.  You can take a ferry between various spots around the lake, or you can take a few days and drive around.   This spot is in the Commune of Maccagno, on the Italy side.  It’s a work-a-day little town, with only a few restaurants and interesting spots, but the people were marvelously friendly, and I’m glad we stayed there.

A Rainy Day Deck

A deck can be a pretty lonely place to be on a rainy day.  This one was at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle.

Stone People in the Park

Statuary in Bellevue Park

In this park in Bellevue, the statuary looks like people walking through the garden.
